About Coconut Grove
Coconut Grove, fondly known as 'The Grove,' is a vibrant neighborhood just south of downtown Miami with a rich history that dates back to the 1870s. Initially attracting Bahamians through the Florida Homestead Act, as the East Coast Railway arrived it became the winter home for wealthy settlers like tycoon William Deering who built the iconic Vizcaya Estate. The Grove has been a sanctuary for prominent artists and writers, with a thriving counterculture in the 1960s. Today, its Bohemian-Bahamian charm and bayfront location is attracting a fresh wave of inhabitants due to resurgence in new development.
